Benefit for Kathy – Tomorrow from 6:30 to 11:00 pm in Prestbury – Unite with Us for a FUN evening!

Cancer can rip people and families apart, but one family is united behind Kathy and so is this community! Join us to help raise funds to assist Kathy in her battle with stage 4 colon cancer. It all happens tomorrow evening (Saturday, February 21, 2015) with the Empty Can Band performing with the ECB horns and friends, silent auction (some incredible items including Blackhawks, Cubs tickets and restaurant gift certificates donated by area folks and businesses), 50/50 raffle, cool T-shirts for sale, food and refreshments (beer, wine, pop, water). The event runs tomorrow night (Saturday) from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Cheshire Club in Prestbury, 15 Winthrop New Road, Sugar Grove, IL. Admission is $10.00 and includes food, refreshments and entertainment. All proceeds go to the Rosheisen family.

Call for Help from the Empty Can Band – Benefit for Kathy – Sat, Feb 21st in Prestbury

Hey Empty Can Band fans! We hope you had a very merry holiday season and a happy new year!

We need your help. We’re having a benefit for our good friend Kathy Rosheisen who’s been battling stage four cancer.

The benefit is set for Saturday, February 21st at 6:30 p.m. at the Cheshire Club, 15 Winthrop New Road, Sugar Grove, IL 60554 in Prestbury.

The benefit will feature a performance by the Empty Can Band and friends. It will also feature heavy appetizers and refreshments. We plan to hold a silent auction and several raffles throughout the evening to help raise funds to help offset some of Kathy’s considerable expenses. The entry cost will be $10 and will include food, refreshments and the band performance.

It’s our hope that this benefit will do two important things: 1) lift Kathy’s spirits up and 2) knock her soaring hospital bills down.

So many of us are blessed with good health, a loving family and great friends. Right now Kathy has the family and friends going for her and a lot of prayers and medical support to help with her health, but it’s a daily struggle.

We know how powerful it can be when people come together as a community of friends, neighbors, family and supporters – and there are several ways in which you can participate in this specific event. The first and most important would be to show up – so save the date! Our second call-out would be for any silent auction items – things like sporting event or concert tickets, gift baskets, sports or music memorabilia (esp. autographed items), certificates from dentists, hair dressers, nail techs, message therapists, and other professionals, etc. for donation to the silent auction. Third would be if you’re willing to volunteer some time that day/night to help with set-up or tear-down or a variety of other tasks.

I hope you will consider showing your support in one of the three ways outlined above, or if you can’t make it to the benefit but would still like to help, we’d love it if you would consider making a donation to help ease the burden of Kathy’s medical expenses. Please contact me via email if you’re interested in helping one of our best friends.

You can keep up-to-date on the latest developments at both and on Facebook at Benefit for Kathy

Sincerely yours,

Dave and the Empty Can Band

June 7, 2014
All vehicles welcome! Registration will take place in Peru, IL at the Eagle’s Club. Registration starts at 8AM with a bike blessing taking place at 10AM. The Run will finish at the Eagles Club in Peru, IL with a live and silent auction at 3PM, dinner at 4PM, as well as live entertainment! Come and support us in accomplishing Thomas’ dreams.

Here’s more about Thomas:
Captain Thomas John Heitmann, 27, of Mendota, Illinois, was killed while flying an AH-1W Cobra helicopter that crashed during training on September 19th, 2011, at Camp Pendelton, a Marine Corps base in Southern California.

Captain Heitmann, Tom to his friends, was a member of the Saint Bede Academy graduating class of 2002 (Peru, Illinois). While at St. Bede, Tom lettered four years in football with three years in track and one in basketball. He was a part of the most successful football team in the Academy’s history and was inducted with his team into SBA’s Hall of Fame. He was also the 2002 News Tribune Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year; he still holds two of St. Bede’s track and field records. Tom was involved in the arts as well; he was a four-year choir member and cast in the Academy’s musicals. On top of the arts and athletics, Tom was also active in his faith, serving as a eucharistic minister at the Academy and participating in TEC (Teens Encounter Christ)

About three years ago, Thomas Heitmann wrote a letter to St. Bede track and field coach Mike Skoflanc. The former Bruin standout wanted to see what could be done to raise funds to build a track at his alma mater. Tragically, Heitmann is not able to see that project through. This benefit will raise funds for the project. To read more about Thomas, learn more about the benefit or make a donation, please visit the Captain Thomas John Heitmann website –

The cost for the Poker Run which included dinner is $20.00, if you would like to just attend the dinner and enjoy the bands, it’s $10.00. Both bands are donating their time and equipment to the cause. We will rock the house! For more information about the Eagles Lodge, call (815) 223-0282.
