Summer Fun with the Empty Can Band
We have a fun summer planned for you. We begin with a solo concert by band leader Dave Glynn at the Aurora Artwalk that begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8th on Stolp Aveue in downtown Aurora, IL. Rumor has it, Dave’s daughter, Briana will join him for a few songs. Dave will be performing two sets that night beginning at 7:30 p.m. For more information on the artwalk, visit the Auorra Artwalk website. On June 9th, JD Klatt, former ECB bass player will be performing solo at the Louche Puce Market in downtown Aurora on Water Street Mall between Downer and Garfield. JD probably starts around 11:00 a.m. goes to the afternoon.
The Blues on the Fox this year is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 15th and 16th on the West bank of the Fox River, north of New York street in downtown Aurora, IL. This year’s line up includes a brief, very early Saturday appearance by Rich and Dave as part of the Made in Aurora ensemble. We play at exactly 1:30 p.m. for about five minutes. Line up for this year’s fest: Friday – Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Shawn Dwight, Saturday – Neville Bros, Legends of the Blues (Billy Branch, Carlos Johnson, Matthew Skoller, etc.), The Lee Boys (spiritual steel) and Shemekia Copeland. Wow! Dave will be emceeing the show over the course of both days.
On Friday, July 13th, the Empty Can Band will perform at the annual Boob Bash to benefit the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk for Breast Cancer – specifically raising funds for Team Saving 2nd Base – Nora Van Ham’s team. Nora is our show-closer as most of you know – “Mercedes Benz” ring a bell? We go all out for this show as we are typically very inspired. Set for 7:00 p.m.at the Aurora Turners Club (1335 Mitchell Road, Aurora, IL).
On Saturday, July 14th, Dave returns to his folk and solo roots, with a little help from Richie and Ray at the Louche Puce Market in downtown Aurora on Water Street Mall between Downer and Garfield. I think I start @11:00 and play til about 2:30 p.m. Retro Rock the Fox is going on that night on the West bank of the Fox River, north of New York street in downtown Aurora, IL. The line up for this shindig includes the Village People (I’m not kidding), Chasing the Day, ARRA and Hey Jimmy. Dave will be emceeing that show as well.
On, Saturday, July 21st the Cans are playing at Two Brothers Roundhouse Brewery, 205 N. Broadway in Aurora, IL in the courtyard. We plan to begin around 8:30 p.m. This should be a lovely evening under the stars.
On Friday, July 27th the Empty Cans are playing a private rooftop party in downtown Chicago. Wish y’all could come, some of you WILL be there :). Then, Saturday, July 28th, the Empty Cans are performing at a new venue in Ottawa called H2O Bar & Grill West, 948 E Main St., Ottawa, IL (815) 433-4502.
Then, Friday, August 3rd, the band is performing at our old haunt O’Brien’s,12 N River St. ,Batavia, IL 60539, (630) 406-9200. We plan to start @8:30 p.m.
Dave will also emcee the Jam on the Fox festival on Saturday, August 18th. That will feature the Charlie Daniels Band, Georgia Satellites, Heartsfield (featuring our friend Dave Nelson) and Red Woody.
